It is challenging to find a natural, organic, and clean face cleanser that is not filled with heaps of unnecessary ingredients. From parabens to chemical fragrances to other toxic ingredients, most face cleansers don’t have the health of your skin and body in mind.

With that said, it is important to always read the ingredient list on your face wash, even if it claims it is organic, natural, or made with natural and organic ingredients. Companies are only required to put in one or two natural and organic compounds and it can qualify to be labeled as “natural and organic,” when it reality in is still filled with chemicals.
Therefore, look for products that have minimal, easy to pronounce, and recognizable ingredients. Chances are if you cannot pronounce an ingredient, and it sounds like it should be a term in a chemistry book, the ingredient is not healthy or natural.
You can look for labels on your face wash like USDA Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, Certified Organic Ingredients, Paraben-Free, etc. to help you begin to distinguish healthy and unhealthy products. But as we said before, don’t just stop there read those ingredients. If you are ever uncertain about a product or item, we highly recommend using the EWG Skin Deep app on your smartphone or their website.
They have done extensive testing on products and ingredients and have a massive database you can search specific products, brands, and components to check for safety concerns or if a product is safe, healthy, and doesn’t contain toxic ingredients. Look for products that are EWG-Verified to confirm the safety of a face cleanser!
In this review, we are going to look at Desert Essence Gentle Nourishing Face Cleanser. It is one of the best organic facial cleansers we have found and used!
The number one reason we love this gentle face cleanser is because the ingredients are simple, recognizable, and healthy. There is not a single ingredient that isn’t natural or doesn’t come from a plant source. Ingredients include items like apple juice, coconut oil, water, sesame oil, aloe leaf juice, flower extracts, and more. All of these plant-based ingredients are gentle on the skin and will wash away oil, makeup, and debris gently but effectively. This wash is easy to use.
All you have to do is wet your face with some warm water and use a small dime-sized amount of face cleanser. Rub in a circular motion on the face for about 30-60 seconds and wash off with more warm water. Pat dry and you are good to go. Repeat this process in the morning and night for optimal results.
There are not harsh alcohols in this face wash, making it perfect for sensitive skin. Nothing is worse than washing your face and being left with irritated, red skin from a harsh, chemical-filled face wash. With Desert Essence, you’ll never have to worry about that.
What we also love about this product is it does not leave your face feeling dry or tight after cleansing. Have you ever washed your face with a cleanser and your skin feels tight and like you cannot move it? That means your skin is not reacting well to the cleanser and you should seek an alternative that is gentler on your skin. With this face wash, instead of being left with tight skin, your skin feels hydrated and moisturized. A non-dry
is due to the fact there aren’t chemicals or alcohols and natural hydrating ingredients like cucumber, aloe, and coconut oil lock in skin moisture.
We also find absolutely no fragrance in this product as well, not even natural pure essential oils. Although, it still has a pleasant, natural, and fruit scent.
It is also free from animal-derived ingredients, animal testing, animal cruelty, parabens, artificial fragrances/dyes, petrolatum compounds such as mineral oil, petrolatum, or paraffin, SLS, PEGS, PPG, MERA, DEA, TEA, glycols, phthalates, and gluten.
It is also USDA Certified Organic, which is surprisingly hard to find in a face wash. Most other certifies organic face cleansers are extremely expensive and not budget-friendly for most people. Coming in at around $10, this organic face wash is inexpensive – it is almost too good to be true, but we are thankful it isn’t!
