A Danish makeup artist, Kristen Kjaer, who moved to NYC, built Kjaer Weis. She combines the minimalist style of Scandinavian life with the bold and fast-paced life of New York City to create a makeup brand that is pure and simple but does not take out the fierceness women want to find in their lipstick, eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, and more.
Kristen started this brand because she found that women were sacrificing the health of their skin and their bodies by using high-performance and conventional makeup. She found that most of the natural products on the market were never able to perform like the synthetic stuff, so she went on a mission to change that.
She took some of the knowledge she gained from growing up on a farm in Denmark and fused that into her natural makeup line. Their farm was organic and most of the food they ate came right from their own backyard. Natural living was natural and second nature for her, which blended into her life further than just-food. Her life was focused on healthy living all around, including the stuff that goes on our bodies as well.
Once she moved to the United States and became a famous makeup artist, the problem with conventional makeup became even clearer. She was doing makeup for professional photo shoots on a daily basis and all the time, the models would claim they could not use certain products because they were allergic to some of the ingredients or that it made their face breakout, their eyes puffy, or it would give them a terrible rash.
Kristen refused to accept this as the norm and was inspired to make healthy and natural makeup so this would not be an issue. Fast forward some years later, and Kristen has one of the most respected natural beauty brands in the industry.
Along with many other makeup and beauty products, Kjaer Weis makes stunning eyeshadows in a range of different colors.
Review
Kjaer Weis eyeshadows come in 14 different colors, ranging from blue to blush to gold and so much more. They each have healthy and wholesome ingredients like honeysuckle extract that is antibacterial and is a natural preservative, gardenia Florida fruit extract that is an antioxidant and also a natural preservative, and bamboo. Bamboo is a natural silicone, which aids in the production of collagen within the connective tissue. Bamboo and collagen production is important because they will keep those pesky fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes to a minimum.
Many of the ingredients in these eyeshadows are also CCPB Certified Natural. At least 70% of the ingredients in the shadows are organic and come directly from organic farms. These shadows are made and produced in Italy, contain no artificial ingredients, no petroleum, parabens, artificial colors, petrochemicals, or synthetic fragrances. These shadows are also never tested on animals, never have any gluten, and the colors Cloud Nine, Earthy Calm, Green Depth, Magnetic, and Onyx are vegan. We love that some of the eyeshadows are matte and others have a slight shimmer to them as well. This is a great option for creating a lot of depth with your eyeshadows and to get a subtle or dramatic effect depending on the look you are going for!
Also worth a mention is the packaging the eyeshadows come in. These metal packages are made sustainably so they are good for the Earth and for you. The metal containers for the eyeshadow are reusable, so you just reorder the refill colors of your choice so you are not throwing away plastic containers when you run out of your favorite color. Not only is this good for the waste problem we are facing, but it will save you some money as well so you are not constantly paying for the packaging eyeshadows come in as well.
